There are many different varieties of hairstyles in the anime. But today in this article, we are talking about the short hairs. There are many characters with short hair. It is usually the hairstyle of the bored, book-reading, and lazy characters of anime. I will teach you in an easy way.

Drawing short hair: A step-by-step tutorial

I'll show you the five steps to drawing short hair in this tutorial. You can draw alongside me while adhering to these guidelines. As well as detailing it and offering you some advice, I will do so. Don't just repeat the steps and images here. If you just do it, you can't learn and increase your knowledge. You won't be able to make your own characters or anime in the future if you simply copy it at this point and don't grasp the fundamentals.

MATERIAL

In this tutorial, you just need the basic material for drawing hairs.

  • Paper or sketchbook page
  • Eraser
  • Light-shaded pencils you have
  • One dark shade pencil you have

Before starting the first step, it is necessary for you to know how to draw an anime face and hair. Because without knowing the face and head, you are not able to draw hair. If you know how to draw faces, don’t waste your time; see step 1 and learn it. If you do not know the drawing of an anime face, first learn it. I attached the link to "How to Draw an Anime Face." You just click on this, and before learning this, go and learn the drawing of an anime face.

Step#1

It is actually the front hairs, or bums, of the anime. In this step, I draw some small stroke lines on the forehead of the anime's face. I draw it not in the same direction because the stroke lines of the hairs are not looking good and realistic in the same direction and also look weird. That's why I made half-diagonal lines.

Tip

  • If you want to create a small stroke, hold your pencil from the near side of the pencil nip or tip.
  • If you want to create a long stroke, hold your pencil from the back of the pencil nip or tip.

Step#2

In this step, I make some short straight stroke lines on the right and left sides of the front hair, or bums. It's basically the sideburns of anime. It always pulls at the top of the ears. As you see in the picture.

In this tutorial, we are making a short version of the anime. So you should make short stroke lines. If we discussed long hair, you would make long strokes.

Step#3

In this step, I draw the top of the anime with some small stroke lines. Before drawing a stroke on the top, you need to know where the hair growth point is and then draw the stroke lines along the head. Draw the stroke lines as you see in the picture.

Step#4

Remove all of the hair's guidelines, then use a dark pencil to fill in the space. To further define the hair, use a sketch pen and pointer.

Step#5

With a pencil, begin blending.

The hair is blended with the pencil in the first step. Blend it with a dark pencil. Always hold the pencil on both the right and left sides and gently rub the desired area. Apply equal pressure as you rub.

Use a tissue, dry brush, makeup brush, or paper stump to blend after that.

Once the needed area has been blended with pencil, use the paper stump or anything else you have to fill it in. It can be put to use after drawing the hair. Additionally, it combines with pencil, as I already mentioned.

We've finished drawing the hairs, and I hope this tutorial and my teaching style were both beneficial to you.
